FAQs
What is fused glass?
Fused glass is glass that is cut, assembled, and fired in a kiln at a very high temperature to fuse it together
Where are the courses held?
All courses are held in my home studio in Chesham (HP5). I teach a maximum of 6 people per workshop. Sessions usually run from 10am - 1.30pm.
What will I make?
You will learn to cut and assemble Bullseye Glass to create a large square or circular bowl (approx. 30cm in diameter), or -if you prefer- a flat glass plaque which can be hung, framed or put on a display stand. Other seasonal options will be available.
Work is fired and ready for collection in about a fortnight (in busier month this may be slightly longer.)
Do I need any previous experience?
No! Most people who come have never done anything like this before!
How much does it cost?
Workshops cost £100 per person. £40 deposit is payable at the time of booking, and the balance is payable a week before the event.
When do you run courses?
Courses are held regularly throughout the year. Reach out via or contact form, Facebook or Instagram to book in today!
Do you offer workshop gift vouchers?
Workshop gift vouchers are available, enquire via our contact form or reach out via Facebook or Instagram for more information.
What do I need to bring?
All materials are provided. Some students choose to bring design ideas (photos on phones or sketched out, scraps of wallpaper or fabrics to match with glass colours). Pinterest is a great place to look for inspiration!
Health and Safety
Protective goggles are provided. If you take blood-thinning medication, Warfarin for example, please let me know as you may cut yourself whilst cutting glass. Please ensure you are wearing shoes with closed toes.
I also run whole-day sessions for private groups upon request. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss this further.
If you are school or youth organisation please contact me for information on how we can bring fused glass into your setting.

Headway
One of my corporate clients, Headway, specialises in delivering support for people with brain injuries. For this, I created a festive workshop tailored to the varying ability levels of the lovely members!

Laura
Julia’s workshops are really well organised, she goes through all the safety advice with you, how to use the tools and handle the glass. But best of all it’s great fun! You can let your imagination go wild with the amazing range of coloured glass to choose from!

Shaz
Thank you for another fab workshop. Great instruction, and so enjoyable. Well worth travelling from Southampton and Fareham. See you next year for our third workshop!
The sessions are never dull, and because the groups are small it means Julia can help everyone, so you get the very best out of your time. I love the workshops, looking forward to my next one!

Paula
I guess you could call me a regular at Julia’s workshops! The time spent in the studio is fun, relaxing and I enjoy it immensely. I have made some beautiful pieces that I am so proud of, which are in every room of my house, including the garden and have also made gifts for family and friends.
